The Final Post

Reflection on EDUC 5101 Blogging

I must admit that I was not very keen on the blogging assignment when I first began the course.  Having not much blogging experience I was hesitant in trying a new blogging platform so I stuck with Blogger (which I had used for some blogging in a previous course).  I have enjoyed using Blogger, I am glad that I stuck with it because I now feel more confident with this online tool and have had to troubleshoot a few things.  One week when I tried to publish my post the font became white with a white background and I believe the problem was because I wrote it in microsoft word and then copied and pasted it in to Blogger - now I know that that doesn't work very well!

Throughout the EDUC 5101 I had the opportunity of becoming familiar with wordpress through the group PBL assignments.  This was a great opportunity to learn about another blogging website and compare which tool I prefer.  Although I am a bit more confident with Blogger (and I believe it does exceed wordpress for ease of use) I think i prefer wordpress.  Wordpress has a very nice homescreen that resembles a menu with large icons that visitors can click to select your different blog posts.  Once you become familiar with the navigation of the site it is pretty user friendly.

Overall I have enjoyed the blogging activity.  Not only did we have exposure to a vast variety of topics that our classmates blogged about each week but it was also a great opportunity to see what different blogging tools look like or how the same blogging tool can be customized to look so different.  The blogging responses at times felt forced but were more authentic than responding to a non-engaging discussion forum.  The other nice thing is that you could read a variety of blogs until you found one that you related to and had something meaningful to comment on.  I enjoyed this course and maybe I will keep up with blogging for leisure (I just have to find some spare time :)

  1. Thanks for sharing your final reflections, Sarah. I've really enjoyed working with you, and I'm glad that you were able to find some posts of interest amongst your classmates' blogs. I look forward to following your work in the future!
